Born in 1913 in Callan, County Kilkenny, Ireland, he learned his art surreptitiously while working as a bank clerk. He moved to St. Ives in 1960 and became part of the thriving artistic community Also included is a lengthy and entertaining account, by O’Malley himself, of his early years growing up In County Kilkenny.

The book is illustrated throughout and contains photographs and artwork never previously published, including 16 in colour.
The author an Irishman born and bred in Drogheda, near the mouth of the river Boyne, he is a poet, photographer, publisher and bookdealer. He contributed Tony O’Malley’s obituary for The Guardian. He lives and works in Charlbury, Oxfordshire with his wife and daughter.
