Each photograph is accompanied by a fascinating explanation that adds a great deal to our knowledge of what has always been the focus of the life of the town - St Ives harbour.
John McWilliams was born in St Ives and has always been involved with the harbour. His father owned a sailing boat between the wars and John used to go out fishing with him when he was young. John’s prime interest is in maritime history and he has spent the last five years researching the Breton fishermen in Cornwall for a book which is due to be published in the autumn of 2006.
